Privacy Policy

QRNova stores all scan and creation data locally on your device. The free version
        displays ads via Google Mobile Ads, which may collect device identifiers for ad personalization. Subscriptions
        are processed securely by Apple — we never see your payment information.

What We Collect

QRNova itself does not collect personal information, usage statistics, or analytics. We receive a non-reversible transaction token from Apple to verify subscription status — no payment data is accessible to us.

The free version of QRNova displays advertisements via the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Google may collect the following in order to serve and measure ads:

Device advertising identifier (IDFA / GAID) — used for ad personalization and frequency capping
Approximate location (derived from IP address) — used for geo-targeted ads
Usage data — which ads were shown, tapped, or dismissed
Diagnostic data — crash reports and performance metrics

This data is collected and processed by Google under their own privacy policy. See Google's Privacy Policy for full details. Users who upgrade to QRNova Pro do not see ads; the Google Mobile Ads SDK is disabled for premium subscribers.

How Your Data Is Stored

QRNova stores your scan history and settings in a local database on your device using SwiftData and iOS standard storage (UserDefaults). This data includes:

Scanned QR and barcode content (URL, text, Wi-Fi credentials, vCard data, etc.)
QR codes you have created with the generator
App preferences such as appearance mode and language selection

None of this data leaves your device. There is no QRNova server, no cloud sync, and no backup to our infrastructure.

Camera

QRNova uses your camera to scan QR codes and barcodes in real time. The camera feed is processed entirely on-device by Apple's Vision framework. No frames, images, or video are recorded, stored remotely, or transmitted anywhere.

Photo Library

QRNova can read images from your photo library to decode QR codes contained in saved photos. It can also save generated QR code images to your library. Access occurs only when you explicitly trigger these actions — the app does not browse or store your photos.

Contacts

When you scan a vCard QR code, QRNova can optionally import the contact directly into your Contacts app. Contact data is passed directly from the QR code to iOS Contacts — it is not stored separately by QRNova or sent anywhere externally.

Calendar

When you scan a QR code containing a calendar event (iCalendar format), QRNova can add the event to your Calendar app. Calendar data goes directly from the QR code to iOS Calendar — QRNova does not retain a copy or transmit it.

In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

QRNova offers an optional QRNova Pro subscription with three plans: Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly. Weekly and monthly plans include a 3-day free trial. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit — we do not see, store, or have access to your payment information.

Subscription management (upgrade, downgrade, cancellation) is handled through your Apple ID account settings. Refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles payment data.

QRNova Pro removes all advertisements and unlocks: unlimited QR share & save, batch scan, CSV history export, and custom QR colors.

Advertising & Consent (GDPR / CCPA)

Free users are shown ads through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. On first launch, QRNova presents a consent dialog (powered by Google's User Messaging Platform) to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Economic Area and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

If you consent to personalized ads, Google may use your device identifier and usage data to serve relevant advertisements.
If you decline personalized ads, you will still see ads, but they will not be tailored to your interests.
QRNova Pro subscribers do not see ads at all — the advertising SDK is suppressed after purchase.

You can withdraw or change your ad consent at any time by going to Settings → Reset Ad Preferences within the app. You may also limit ad tracking at the iOS system level via Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.

Third-Party SDKs

QRNova integrates the following third-party frameworks:

Google Mobile Ads SDK — serves interstitial, banner, and native ads to free users. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) — manages GDPR/CCPA consent dialogs. No additional data collection beyond the consent choice itself.
Lottie (Airbnb) — renders animations entirely on-device. Collects no data.

No analytics, crash reporting, or social SDKs are integrated.

Children's Privacy

QRNova does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since we collect no personal data from any user, this policy applies equally to users of all ages.

How to Delete Your Data

Uninstall QRNova to delete all locally stored data. No data exists on our servers, so there is nothing further to request deletion of.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
